First Day of School!

The kids started school on Tuesday!

 

Luke is in 2nd grade this year.  He was so excited to get back to school.  In the week (or two) leading up to the start of school, he kept saying, "I can hardly wait."

 

 

Caden started Kindergarten!  He is excited that he gets to go to school with his brother, Luke.  With that said, he has been dreading being in school "all day" (no 1/2 day kindy here).  He has come home happy every day this week, though.   

 

Porter has been ready for preschool for a long time.  He is thrilled that this year is his year.  He wishes it were more than 2 days a week, but he will take it.

 

He walked right into his class this week and got right to playing.  His teacher had to ask him if he wanted to tell his mom good-bye.  "Oh, yeah, bye mom."  I am glad he is so comfortable going to school, even if I am just an after thought.

This year, our next door neighbor, Vinny, gets to ride the bus to school with Luke and Caden.  Vinny is in 4k (pre-kindergarten class) and for this year only his 4k class will be held at the elementary (instead of a preschool).

 

On the first day of school, Luke made sure that he walked Vinny to his class (after checking with the office where it was located) and then walked Caden to his class before heading to his own.  Love this kind boy.

On the first day of school the boys waited and waited for the bus to arrive.

 

And waited some more.

 

It never came.

 

So, we jumped in our cars and rushed our kids to school.  They were late, of course.  We called the bus company and they assured us that the bus would be there the next day.

 

 



And it was!

 



 

Ryland and Porter have become good little buddies.  Ryland didn't really understand what was happening when Porter went to preschool on Tuesday, but he had things all figured out when I dropped off Porter today.  He was SO sad and cried because Porter was leaving him.  Thankfully, I had errands to run (with only 1 child, mind you!!!) because the small amount of time we spent at home, with just the two of us, was painful...so many tears.  This is going to be an adjustment for this boy who was surrounded by his brothers all summer.

 

 

 

I am going to continue to post about our summer, but didn't want to miss posting about the first week of school!
