Our kids are funny when it comes to walking. Luke was our earliest walker at 13 months. Caden didn't take his first steps until 17.5 months. And Porter wasn't walking full-time until 16.5 months (even though he took his first steps 2 months earlier).
So, it has been no surprise that Ryland is 16 months and not yet walking. He has been able to stand up in the middle of a room for nearly 2 months, but all of our attempts to coax him into taking steps have failed. In fact, when we would stand him up ourselves and ask him to walk, he pulled up his legs in protest (identical to Caden) and we could only laugh at his stubbornness.
He decided to take his first steps on Christmas Eve when he wanted something badly at the bowling alley. Since then, he stands up all throughout the day, but will only take a step or two. Nothing more. If we try to get him to take more steps, he sits down. I have no doubt he will get around to walking when he is ready.
