36 Candles!

David had a birthday last week!  He is 36.  That means he is now closer to 40 than to 30.  Wow!

Sadly, he was in class all that day.  While he was away, the boys had fun decorating the house, planning their surprise attack when he walked through the door, and waiting for the pizza to be delivered.

 

David is not your typical ice cream and cake kind of a guy.  He is a little manic when it comes to food.  It is constantly changing...sometimes he likes something and the next thing you know, he doesn't like it as much as he originally thought.  Birthday food is no different.  He had chocolate cake for his first 2 birthdays of our marriage.  After that, he decided all he ever wanted was lemon cake for his birthday.  He said that was his favorite cake (at least it was for a couple of years).  Then lemon cake was out and pie was in.  Then pie again.  And again.  This year when I asked him what kind of pie he wanted, it turns out he didn't.  Doughnuts are the new thing.
So, he got doughnuts!

David has wanted an iPad ever since it came out.

You can tell his excitement by that big smile!

 

A few days after his birthday, David let me know that the iPad was the "best birthday gift, ever."
