Swimming Lessons

Luke had his first swimming lesson today.  Swimming lessons last year were a fiasco.  This kid is SO afraid of water.  I know, what isn't he afraid of?  This year we heard about a great teacher and signed him up for private lessons.
She is wonderful!  We love Ms. Jo!

He didn't want to get in the water, of course, but Jo kindly, but firmly coaxed him in.
He was not excited at all in the beginning.

(He has ear tubes so is wearing a swim cap to keep the ear plugs in place.  It was actually helpful as he hates water in his ears...surprise, surprise.  It was one less fear to worry about today!).

Trying to get him to blow bubbles.  He kept saying, "I don't want to," but she got him to do it anyway.  His biggest swimming fear is putting his face in the water.

Ahh, a smile!

It's going to be a long road to get this kid comfortable in the water and swimming on his own.  The skeptic in me thinks it will be years, but today was a great start.  And maybe he'll surprise me!

Jumping in.
He would never have done that for me...even with a bribe!

As we were walking back to the car, Luke said, "That was fun!"
I love how his teacher gave him some confidence after 30 minutes with him.
Wahoo!!!
