Green Bay

David had a 4 day weekend over Labor Day so we decided to head to Green Bay for a couple of days.  As soon as the kids got home from school on Friday, we were off (it's just 2 hours from us).

We were hoping to get a tour of Lambeau Field the evening we arrived, but they were all booked.  Instead we toured the Packers Hall of Fame.  It was cool to see all the different Packers uniforms that have been used, especially the early ones.  This seems to be the only picture we took at the Hall of Fame.

When we got to our hotel that evening, we celebrated Luke's 9th birthday with some caramel brownies!!

We lined up first thing the next morning to get a tour of Lambeau Field.

There was quite a crowd, so even though we were there before the doors opened we still had to wait nearly an hour for our tour to begin.

The boys entertained themselves in the atrium area with a lot of "rough housing."  I just read an article on how rough housing is good for kids and how it teaches them a great things.  Didn't know that.  Still wondering if it is true, but it makes me feel better that my kids are just being normal kids.

There was also quite a bit of silliness going on too.

Our tour was very interesting, but I should have had David write this post since I can't remember much of the fun details we learned.  I guess that is what I get by being 3 months behind on posting it!

It would also help if we were true Packers fans, but we're not.  We left there thinking that maybe we should be, though.

The tour lasted 1.5 hours, which was a long time for Ryland who was stuck in the stroller most of the time.  Porter was at his end too.  They were both glad to be done with it, but I think the rest of us enjoyed it and learned a lot about the Packers, the field, and the fans...even if some of us can't remember. :)

After the tour, we headed to Bay Beach Amusement Park.  This place is awesome in that it is pay per ride (most rides only 25 cents).  We ended up spending only twenty bucks for the whole family for four hours of fun.

There were plenty of kiddie rides for the littles to go on by themselves.

If there was a downside, it was that there were many rides where only Luke was tall enough to go on, so we had to split up a lot.  The height rules at this amusement park are more stringent than the park close to us.

Even so, everyone had a lot of fun.

The family favorite was the Giant Slide (burlap sack slide).  It was so. much. fun.  We went down several times.  In the video below, David and the kids are in the left 3 lanes (not sure why Caden got hung up this time down).

When everyone was tired, we took a train ride around the park and called it quits.
