Governor Nelson State Park

The weekend before school started, we had one last summer hurrah.  We spontaneously jumped in the car, picked up pizza, and headed to Lake Mendota in Governor Nelson State Park (20 minutes from our house).

We had intended to eat and throw a ball or two around on the beach.  Then David headed to the restroom and the draw to the water for these boys was just too much.  Once they stuck their feet in I knew there was no going back.  When David returned the boys were fully immersed.  He asked how this had happened, but really, how would it not happen?  We should have had enough foresight to see this coming and plan accordingly.  We had not.  And maybe it was more fun that way.  We laughed at how unprepared we were.  We laughed at how much fun the boys were having.  And really, having them strip out of their dirty, wet, and smelly clothing in the, thankfully empty, parking lot was kind of hilarious!

Holding his shorts up, as if he wasn't planning on getting any wetter.

Little poser.
