Porter is full of life. He has a smile or a laugh for everyone, and he oozes energy.
Nobody is a stranger to this child. He treats everyone as a friend. Oh, how it scares me at times.
He loves nursery. His nursery leaders love him. I am told by one nursery leader that he is ready for Sunbeams. What? Are we talking about the same child? My child? The one who can't sit still for more than 3 minutes at a time? Turns out he is different in nursery. He sits still for them all during lesson time, which lasts 15-20 minutes and continues to sit during snack time.
Can be so very charming. Even when he is being a little stinker.
Gets a glint in his eye when he is about to do something he shouldn't, which is often. I usually know when he has just done something naughty because he comes to me with that same glint in his eye and will typically have his hands over his ears too (so he doesn't have to listen to me tell him what he should not be doing).
Is strong-willed. Likes to test all the boundaries.
Is single-handedly keeping Kleenex tissues in business. This kid wipes his nose (whether it needs it or not) ALL DAY LONG.
TV does not keep his attention for long. Making messes is more fun. :-)
Made it through more than an hour of church without being taken out (for unruly behavior) a couple of weeks ago. Didn't happen the following week, but at least there is hope for the future.
Loves his big brothers and has a great time teasing them.
Smothers his baby brother with all sorts of love (and germs!).
Has made big strides in his speech this past month. He has had a fairly large vocabulary for quite some time, but has been cutting off the beginning or end of a large portion of his words. He has also not been able to say a good chunk of his consonants. We debated for a long time about having him evaluated by a speech therapist or not. We thought his speech would come all on its own (in time), but also wanted to be able to understand him better (and sooner). In the end, we opted for the evaluation. After all, there was nothing to lose as it was free (government program). From the time the process was initiated to the time he was actually evaluated, he made huge progress on his own. Something just clicked in his little brain and I suspected he would not qualify. And he did not. Yay! He tested "normal for his age". Normal is good!
I am going to miss when he can actually say the word "no". Right now it comes out "mow" and it doesn't quite have the force it needs and my first reaction is to laugh...internally, of course.
Gives the most amazing hugs.
This one was cuddly as a baby and sometimes I forget that because he is so active now and doesn't often have time for hugging. Then, he will surprise me by pausing to hand out a sweet, tender, squeezy hug.
Love it.
We sure love this little firecracker.
He is sweet and spicy.
Naughty and nice.
Full of laughter, love and light.
