Luke and Caden had their second and final round of swimming lessons for the summer.
Luke has come a long way. Here he is swimming to Ms. Jo!
Good job, Luke!!!
Luke swimming to dad.
David had a few days off of work and was able to come see the progress these boys have been making. While Luke is far from swimming laps (or even just one lap), he has made big strides this year. Slowly, but surely, he is conquering his fear of water.
Caden swimming to dad.
Caden swimming in circles.
This kid cracked us up during his lessons. He could be a good little swimmer, but found himself distracted by EVERYTHING. He was too interested in looking around (under the water) and ended up going around in circles. Even better, because of whatever it was he found so interesting, he often forgot to even kick and wouldn't go anywhere.
All we could do was laugh. His teacher included.
Luke jumping in...without help!
Caden jumping in...also without help. Ms. Jo actually had Caden jump first to show Luke that it could be done.
On the last day, Ms. Jo asked David to assist her by helping the boys "jump" off the diving board. She has Luke all figured out and knew there would be no convincing him that this was safe to do on his own, but wanted him to do something hard that he could be proud of. So, David helped and Luke loved it (even though it scared him) and left feeling like he had accomplished great things.
David helping Caden jump off the diving board. He liked it too.
Ms. Jo was perfectly content letting Porter feel like he was part of the action.
Porter mostly hung out on the steps with David while the boys swam.
He did take a head first dive into the pool at one point. Nice. David was beside him and picked him right up. Hopefully he'll be just as excited to get in the water next year for his swimming lessons.
Luke is actually sad that lessons are over.
Surprise, surprise.
I love the confidence Ms. Jo has given these two boys.
