We headed to the Botanical Gardens on day three.
We are used to the gardens in Chicago and were a little surprised at the small size of this garden. The garden in Chicago is so large we could never cover the whole thing in one trip. Still, this garden, while quite small, is more "kid focused" and had some fun things for the boys to both do and see.
Relaxing for a minute.
Porter was thrilled to be out of the stroller for a bit.
David and his dad.
Walking up to the "birds nest".
Inside the birds nest.
Porter, still stretching his legs.
One of these days he'll actually walk.
The secret door.
Walking through the weeping willow...my favorite tree.
Checking out the train at the gardens.
Porter on the caboose.
Caden as the train conductor.
Our last stop was the butterfly garden. One of the workers talked with and showed the boys butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis' (cocoons), and then butterflies, of course.
It was fun to see how interested they were the process of becoming a butterfly.
The boys are being shown a caterpillar on a leaf.
And now being shown a Monarch Chrysalis.
