12 Days

This is my favorite time of year.  I have always loved it, but it is even better since we had kids.  I can hardly believe that Christmas is only 12 days away.  This season is passing far too quickly for my liking this year.  Wish it could last just a wee bit longer.

Porter is not to be found in these pictures as we put him to bed before the decorating began.  We didn't want him thinking it was okay to touch (and destroy) the ornaments.



 

It seems that many of our ornaments are pretty close to toys. Makes it hard not to touch them.  Porter has surprised me and only touches the tree a few times a day and only a small handful of ornaments have had to be moved out of his reach.  It has not been the huge battle I assumed it would be.

Never say never, though, as there are still 12 days to go!

Shopping is done and Christmas cards have been mailed.

 

 

David and I attended his work Christmas Party this past weekend.  Surprisingly (shh...), it was a lot of fun this year!  The food was good and part of the entertainment included a hypnotist.  We laughed a lot.  This was the first time we got a babysitter and had an evening out together since Ryland was born.

Definitely need to do it again!

 

Now we are just enjoying the few days left until Christmas.  This semester is finished for David.  Yay!  And he has a week off over Christmas.  Yay again! 

 

The boys are looking forward to seeing the lights in the surrounding neighborhoods this weekend.  Last year we took them to see the lights in a neighboring city and found that the "square" of lights was literally just one small square block.  After the drive and parking issues, it really was quite a disappointment.  I guess when you grew up seeing the "Temple Square" lights in Salt Lake City, nothing else can compare.  There are some neighborhoods around us that really get into decorating (and even have competitions) and I am more excited about those lights than the one block of lights we saw last year.
